Who is eligible for the Volunteer Awards?

All volunteer-involving organisations, community groups, individuals, and employee volunteer groups nominees must be volunteering within the Dunedin City Council boundaries. National organisations that have a branch in Dunedin City will be eligible. If there is no branch in the Dunedin City area, please get in touch with our team to discuss this at awards@volunteersouth.org.nz.

Programmes Categoriey

Any volunteer programme or volunteer-based not-for-profit (for-impact) organisation or community group working in the interests of their community can be entered. The awards in this category are based on activities undertaken in the previous 12 months and cannot focus on an individual or future activities.

Volunteers Category

Any person or volunteer group volunteering within the last 12 months and has shown the commitment and dedication for volunteering in Dunedin. Any individual should be volunteering with at least one group that is voluntary or volunteer-based and working in the interests of their community.

Volunteer South recognises that many organisations or community groups do not wish to single out individuals and so there is the ability for groups working together to be nominated for the Team of the Year Award.

Who can nominate an individual, a group, or community organisations for the awards?

Nominations open on the 21st of June and close on Sunday, 24th of July.

Anyone can nominate for the awards. All nominations must be completed using the official nomination form. Forms are available online here.

The volunteer or volunteer group must have been active within the last 12 months.

What happens next?

If a nomination is submitted by a member of public, the information will be checked with the relevant organisation or a group to ensure the legitimacy of the information.

The finalists will be informed after the judging process is done.
